Part 1 of 2: This article presents revised estimates of actual expenditures for plant and equipment in the United States by private, nonagricultural business firms. The entire postwar period is revised and covered, from 1946 to 69. The size of revision and the state of investment are discussed. Accompanying data for expenditure expectations are also revised and are published in Part 2.

Part 2 of 2: This article presents revised estimates of expected expenditures, along with a review of the behavior of expectations data in the 1947-69 period. Revisions were made in order to eliminate biases, and it was found that the revised series is not appreciably different than the unrevised series. Revised data for expenditure expectations are found in this article.
